“Spirit is Coming”
The First Collaborative Improvised Poem from The Budding Garden
The Budding Garden
A space where words begin to grow between us
I have always loved the idea of a secret garden—
hidden, slightly impossible, filled with quiet magic.
But this one will not be secret.
It will be open.
Accessible.
A public space with a private kind of wonder.
A garden of words.
This is a space where I write more intimately with my paying subscribers, creating poems and fragments together.
These pieces are gathered here for everyone to read, revisit, and share.
All are welcome to wander through this growing collection,
offered freely and always available to all.
Join the Garden as a Co-Creator
If you feel called to write alongside me, a small gate opens into a more intimate part of the garden. During this first week, you are warmly welcomed with 50% off until May 13th!!
Introduction Jody Crowley
Today, I am delighted to introduce Jody, one of my very first paying subscribers, who has been part of this journey since November 2025.
Jody writes poetry and creates beautiful paintings. For this collaborative post, she selected one of her own paintings as our prompt, and together we wrote a poem inspired by the image.
We took turns writing each stanza—Jody began, and I followed, allowing the poem to unfold naturally, one verse at a time.
I invite you to read the poem that emerged from this shared moment of inspiration.
Enjoy!

Spirit is Coming
Under currents and over flows,
I feel your approach, crashing.
Energies breaking a path to shore.
Something long sealed begins to give way,
piercing through what was once believed unbreakable,
your waves reaching the parts of me long kept in disguise.
Revealing what was once hidden in shadows,
a force, building, and no longer mutable
bringing the sweet tears of the sea to meet under toe.
I stand upon the shoreline, gazing far beyond the sea,
my toes stirring softly through the grainy sand beneath me,
feeling your waves reach not to break me, but to awaken what was always asleep within.
A rising tide, reaching, for the soul at my feet,
held still, in dreamlike state, until I understand my purpose.
Touched by nature, I take my first step releasing my sparks, my Spirit.
I understand now the path that calls my name,
carried forward by the waves of the Ocean, with steady pace,
I walk along the shore guided by the whisper of the endless waters.
